Traditional acupuncture treats you as an individual, holistically, rather than just focusing on isolated symptoms. Acupuncture is a key part of Traditional Chinese Medicine which regards pain and illness, whether physical, mental or emotional to be a sign that your body is out of balance. The two main schools of acupuncture are Traditional Chinese Medicine, often referred to as the Yin/Yang style, and 5 Element Constitutional Acupuncture. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

This is the type of acupuncture most commonly practised in Australia. TCM looks at the signs and symptoms and diagnoses treatment through Yin and Yang principles and the flow of Qi (or vital energy) around the body. When Qi, Yin and Yang are out of balance, this can lead to illness. These imbalances can be caused by stress, overwork, poor diet, emotional upsets, infections or other lifestyle factors.

5 Element Constitutional Acupuncture

The 5 Element style mainly focuses on treating the underlying constitution of the client, thereby bringing about profound changes in the person's sense of wellbeing. 5 Element Acupuncture can be very beneficial for people with mental, emotional and spiritual issues.                                                                                                                                                                                                                The ancient Chinese healers observed that the 5 fundamental elements of life, namely Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water, exist throughout nature. When these five elements manifest within us in a balanced and harmonious state, we experience health, well-being and the joy of being alive. In 5 Element Acupuncture, the focus of treatment is to restore the balance in the functioning of key elements, particular to each of us, which is the root cause of illness of the body, mind and spirit.
