AUTUMN: THE METAL ELEMENT

21-May-2019

Chinese Medicine works closely with the seasonal cycle to help nurture and conserve our physical and mental wellbeing. In 5 Element Acupuncture, the Metal Element corresponds to autumn, the time of declining Yin energy with shortening days and lowering temperatures. It's the season of transient colours as deciduous leaves change and fall. Following harvest time, plants die back and energy retreats into their roots in readiness for winter. Similarly our body gathers energy and stores it for winter and the season's achievements are distilled to provide the basis for next year's renewal and growth. In the still air, the outlines of tree trunks bring clarity to the mind and time for reflection.
