THE METAL ELEMENT: LUNGS & LARGE INTESTINE

21-May-2019

The Metal Element expresses itself within us through the natural flow of letting go: eliminating the old via the Large Intestine and moving forward to better enable the Lungs to take in the new. The Lungs, responsible for breathing, literally take inspiration from the Qi - or energy from the heavens - and exhale toxins from the body. The Lungs also absorb thoughts, ideas and impressions surrounding us and start the transformation to within. The Large Intestine's function is the elimination of both physical waste and clearing out of negative thought patterns. Autumn is a great time to clear out old habits we no longer need.

Metal provides the clarity to retain what is of value, and refine the quality to ensure it's worthy of keeping. It also fosters self-esteem and respect.

If the Metal Element is out of balance, there can be ongoing issues around grief, loss and longing & excessive perfectionism. Physical symptoms include: persistent dry cough and throat, sinus congestion, skin problems and loose stools.
